Level and Types of a Manager
Top Level of Manager
In this session, we will discuss all the levels of management and types of managers that’s why In the top level of management, there are the highest levels of managers. the top-level of managers is a small group of executives. The level managers have all over responsibility for the survival, growth, and welfare of the organization. Also, the top-level Managers are taken all over the decision and establish policies. The top-level managers set overall goals for the organization. It makes the decision to achieve them. In the organization, any kinds of issues are the overall responsibility of the top-level Managers.

The top-level of management is made up of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Operational Officer (COO), Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chairperson of the Board, President, Vice President, Corporate Head.
The middle level of Manager
The middle level is the largest group of managers in most organizations. They implement strategies, policies, and plans developed by top-level managers. The middle level of managers is responsible for controlling and supervising the activities of the lower level of management. (types of a manager).

In other words, In a smaller organization, there is only one layer of the middle level of management. But In the largest organization there where we can see senior and junior middle levels of management. Though the top level of management is the head and brain of the organization, the personnel in the middle managers actually take part in the execution of the plans and experience difficulties in the invoice.
The middle level of managers has to works between the pressures of top-level 0f managers and lower levels of managers. Middle managers have set operational goals for the organization. Department Management, Division head, and plant superintendent represent middle managers Functional managers for marketing, finance, production is middle managers.
The lower level of Manager
The lower level of management is known as first-line managers. They consist of Supervisor, Foreman, Section head represent lower managers. it is essential personnel that communicates the fundamental problems of the firm to the higher levels. They hold entry-level managerial positions. the lower levels of management are subordinate to middle managers. (types of a manager).
The lower level of management is the intermediary. It solves their issue amidst the workers and is responsible for the maintenance of appropriate relationships within the enterprises. The lower level is also responsible for training, directing, and supervising the operative employees.
In other words, Lower level managers are concerned with the direction and controlling the function of management. They are responsible for the implementation and control of operational plans. The lower level of the managers directly supervises the activities of subordinates also sets goals for operative employees.

Generalist Types of a Manager
A generalist manager is that type of manager who performs the requirement of different types of jobs in an organization. The job description change with the change in function. Only the entry-level position has been specified for the job specification. But diverse nature of jobs creates job overloading. Generalist managers also have the authority to make decisions.
Generally the generalist manager desire to manage a difficult department or a complex or unit. They don’t have specialization as they can be transferred to or from one enterprise to another enterprise.
Chief executive officers, presidents, vice presidents, general managers, or deputing general managers fall under this category.
Functional Types of a Manager (line Manager)
The manager who specializes in one management is called the functional manager. like that production department, marketing department, finance department, human resources management, research and development, accounting, are managers of this category. Functional managers are lacked in the different departments working or distinct tasks also they have authority to make a decision.
Functional manager’s duties, responsibilities, and authority are specified in the job description. that’s why job specification specifies knowledge, skills, training in terms of person requirements. They have to get rewards that are generally based on performance. Posting is based on general qualification.
In practice, functional managers are the head of all departments of a business. In the normal course of operation, they are accountable for the performance of their department or unit.
Staff Types of a manager
In the organization, staff managers are professionals and experts in their specialized areas of knowledge. Staff managers are given no specific formal position at a management level. However, In the organization, the staff managers play the character of the role of advisors between generalist and functional managers. They provide guidance and suggestions to both the above managers on the basis of requirements. They are not a part of the chain of command and they don’t have decision-making authority.

There is no disturbance in the roles because managers have to deal with others both inside and outside of the organization. These roles are consist of.
a. Figurehead:- It deals with ceremonial and symbolic activities. It consists of Greeting receiving and entertaining visitors. Attending parties and ceremonial functions. The managers are the symbol of the organization.
b. Leader role:- In simple words, it involves leadership, motivation, and human resources of management in the organization. This is essential for the management of people and the performance of their activities. It can motivate the employee of the organization to improve their managerial productivity.
c. Liaison role:- This role involves activities related to maintaining contacts with that type of person who is outside of the organization also with the community? It is the public relations role of the manager. This role involves the coordination of their activities. (types of a manager).
